[EPIC FAIL] The Stupid Tax strikes again
THE "STUPID TAX".
Well, sometimes no matter how hard you try, life manages to provide you with an expensive lesson. And I am definitely no exception.
What is the "Stupid Tax'? It's the price you pay (financial & otherwise) for doing something stupid. You see, you have a choice. You can either proactively avoid mistakes by investing the time and money to educate yourself or you can let the world do it for you -- and when it does, your wallet gets lighter and your life gets more inconvenient.
So Sunday, I was cleaning around the house and decided to take care of a long overdue chore. Clean my laptop. (You really didn't want to see it.) I thought I was being smart by spraying Windex on a paper towel to clean it. I pretty much got everything...except the keyboard. So I did the same thing. I mean, I wasn't about to spray the Windex on the keyboard because, of course, that would be stupid.
Within a few seconds after finishing, my keyboard stopped working. I couldn't beleive it.
The good news? After a trip to the Apple Store, my worst fear -- losing the whole laptop -- was avoided. Instead, I paid the $100 Stupid Tax to get a new keyboard.
So what's your Stupid Tax? Pretty much everyone (yes, including you too) will pay the Stupid Tax. What have you known that you need to invest in yourself but you never pulled the trigger? Maybe you said you'd do it later. Maybe you were scared (pretty normal). Maybe you were just trying to save some money. If that's the case, you are in the crosshairs of a Stupid Tax waiting to levied on you.
Whatever it is, the best (and only) way to avoid the Stupid Tax (which I could have done with a simple Google search) is to proactively and consistently invest the time and money to educate and improve yourself.
Whatever it is, it's time to get started.
Talk soon,
Matt
