Thanks for investing with me

I have to admit.  It's my pet peeve.  OK, it really pisses me off actually.

When I was growing up, I always found myself comparing myself to other people.  And I always wanted more than anything to earn their approval.

Who didn't?

Now that's not really the case anymore.  When I made the decision to design my own life many years ago, it was really born out of the fact that I really loved not only the life I had but also the life that I couldn't wait to create.

This has a really cool side benefit as well.  When you start to do this, you start to realize how important it is to choose the people who are in your life.  The people that I ended up investing in were awesome for me.  They added value for me, they made my life better, and they really appreciated my place in their life.  And I appreciated them in my life as well.

But life doesn't always stay that rosy, does it?  Someone always has to stink up the joint.  Someone has to completely take you for granted and treat you like a shackle around their ankles.

I HATE THIS.

As someone working in Insurance, you have this happen all the time.  And it usually happens at Networking Events.  People seem genuinely interested in getting to know you (even if it's for no other reason that feeling more comfortable themselves)...until you drop the one word that changes everything.

Insurance.

Now this newfound friend who was seemingly interested in getting to know you better all of the sudden is giving you the Heisman.  Why?  Because they think you are only trying to be extra nice to them to sell a policy.  You and I know that this is not the case.

Why is it that everyone thinks Insurance Agents are all the same?  A dime a dozen?  Only out for one thing?  And worse yet, BORING?

Because they are.  I've been to more than my share of networking events and, unfortunately, most Insurance Agents act the same way.  In the end, all they end up doing is training their audience to treat them the same way as they have other Insurance Agents.  And this is NOT a good thing.

But it doesn't have to be this way for you.

People ask me all the time why I do what I do for Insurance Agents.  Why do I make it my focus to teach Insurance Agents how to gain a celebrity following and bring clients to them like someone offering a dog a piece of steak?

Because it really bothers me that you have to go through this.  I know what it's like to be viewed skeptically and I know what it's like to not have to go through that anymore.

So why am I sharing this?  2 reasons.  (1) It was on my mind over the last couple days and I wanted to share this with you.  I had a discussion with a family member about this and it really bothers me when some people have the arrogance to think they're better than someone else.  (2)  I really appreciate you.  I do.  I appreciate that you are an active subscriber to my newsletter and take the time to get to know me.

So if you're like a lot of other Insurance Agents who are constantly trying to swim their way through a riptide of networking events just to get someone to treat you like the high value individual you are (and just happen to be an Insurance Agent), get ready for some incredible new lessons coming your way.  They are going to be some serious game changers.

Again, thanks for the time you invest with me.  It's greatly appreciated.

Talk soon,

Matt
